It took me a while to write about this event. Life happens, which is why I don’t always write about everything the very day it occurs. It’s good to practice my recall; it was such a wonderful memory.
For the first time, I finally attended the San Francisco Pen Show this year. Yes, I wore a face mask just to be cautious about COVID-19, which continues to infect many of my friends (they quarantined and recovered, thankfully). Anyway, that’s not what I will talk about in this blog. It’s a pen show. We will talk about pens.
There were numerous wonderfully colored/designed fountain pens everywhere inside the Westin SFO Hotel in Burlingame. My eyes bulged out, and my mouth drooled. Luckily, I had the face mask on. HaHa!
It was a huge rabbit hole. I couldn’t hold onto my wallet. I should have put a leash on it. My wallet ran away. Just kidding. Well, not really. I’ll let you see the damage later.
The pen show happened from August 25th to 27th. I only attended the 26th. It was a late decision to go, which was why I never registered for the whole weekend event. Numerous attendees showed up, and the venue got really crowded. I thought my claustrophobia would get triggered. Thankfully, it didn’t. I did wish the alleys were larger for disabled people because I had a hard time maneuvering my rollator/walker. It didn’t matter much because I got distracted with all the pens and inks. In fact, I plan to attend the next pen show and sign up for the whole weekend.
The fun part I did during the event was testing fountain pen inks. There were so many colors. I got numerous bottled inks and didn’t know how many in total until I got home. HaHa! I was so bad. Here’s what I brought home. Can you blame me?
It was also a great day to meet some of my friends from different groups: Postcrossing, Bay Area Planners, and, of course, our very own Letter Writers Society.
Maybe you could join me in next year’s pen show. The more, the merrier.
